FUTURE ARCHAEOLOGY

Future Archaeology treats glassmaking as archaeology in reverse, constructing the relics of the future rather than excavating the past. Mass-produced toys are translated into glass and enclosed within blown glass domes faceted through cold-working. Suspended in glass, these familiar objects become speculative artefacts, questioning what our civilisation will leave behind. The series asks what we choose to preserve, what survives us, and how everyday icons shift in meaning as relics.

FUTURE RELIC

Future Relic encloses real mass-produced toys and figures inside blown glass domes faceted through cold-working. Unlike cast reproductions, these are the objects themselves, sealed away as if excavated from our present day. Preserved in glass, a familiar toy becomes an artefact of consumer culture, inviting the viewer to imagine how the everyday objects of our time might be discovered, studied, and displayed by future generations. Each piece sits on a handmade pedestal, presented like a museum specimen.
